Large Régence chest of drawers. Walnut burl and elm wood, veneered and inlaid with plum wood. Three-sided cambered body with flared frame, flanked by rounded corner pilaster strips. Three wide drawers and crosspieces with inlaid brass channelling in the articulated front. Slightly protruding, profile-framed top panel with a so-called "Croix Huguenote" inlaid in the centre, partially camouflaged by the overlay of a four-pointed star. Wide framed and cartouche-shaped or quatrefoil veneer fields bordered by wide ribbon and fine thread inlays. The appliqués and handles with gilt bronze herm figures in relief, some with the so-called "Couronne" stamp C with crown. Inside old paper lining. H. 85.5 cm. 142 cm x 68 cm.
