Lot no. 148
Large column as a 2-piece centrepiece; with hedge roundel. Obelisk covered in ivy rising from an all-round, naturalistic mountain landscape, crowned by a putto with a laurel wreath. Polychrome painting. Designed by Josef Wackerle, 1922, model no. 202, slightly dam.; Minim. rest; Partial manufacturer's mark. H. 52 cm. Hedge d. 24 cm.
Wackerle modelled this table decoration on the Frankenthal group of figures "Victory of Beauty over Envy", created by Franz Konrad Linck in 1779. In doing so, he reduced the allegorically connoted programme of figures, but retained the putto embodying victory.
