Large bowl with squirrel decoration Round, slightly recessed shape. Curved, capuchin-brown contoured rim, rim with Sulkowski Ozier relief. Kakiemon decoration of stylised vines in the centre, surrounded by rice straw hedges with a flying squirrel eating grapes. Polychrome painting. Mould designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler, 1735, maker's mark for Johann Martin Kittel. Size no. "2". Minimally worn; crossed swords mark. D. 30 cm. Cf. cat. Coll. Hoffmeister I, no. 116; Weber/Eikelmann, vol. II, no. 292. Provenance: Collection Ilse Bischoff (1901-1990), Hartland, Vermont, USA. A large plate with squirrel pattern from the Ilse Bischoff collection. Former's mark. Minor rubbed. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1735 - 1739.
