LARGE TABLE CLOCK WITH AUTOMATON AND FLUTE MOVEMENT Probably Swiss, early 19th century The movement signed Le Roi & fils. Walnut, burlwood, cherry and partly tinted and fire-shaded woods inlaid in the form of fillets, geometric reserves and cube marquetry and partly blackened. Architectural, rectangular case with arched arch on a cranked frame and flat bronze feet. The upper front with a white dial in a gilt bronze lunette, the lower half with three adjoining arched niches, the central one lined by a bronze portal with fluted columns, spanned by a magnificent garland of flowers and fruit with a mesh. In the central niche is a fountain basin with three dolphins, with dolphin figures in front of the outer niches. Three horizontal and two diagonal twisted and rotating glass rods simulating a water feature. The front corners are set with three-quarter columns, the rear corners with pilasters. Composite capitals. The sides are fitted with doors, with a balustrade at the ridge, lined with two vases on top (formerly probably with flowers). Clockwork with verge escapement and striking on two bells. Flute movement with 17 pewter flutes (3 missing). Flute movement release on request. 52 × 29.5 × 57 cm. Back cover of the movement replaced. Flute movement to be restored. Key for flute movement missing. Pendulum missing.
