Large KPM Berlin wall plate with fruit bouquet by Franz Aulich
Round, slightly recessed shape with a gold rim. In the centre, an extensive bouquet of ripe grapes hanging from widely branching leaves on a delicate greenish background. Fine, soft-toned polychrome painting by Franz Aulich. Painter's sign "F. Aulich". Minimally rubbed; sceptre mark. D. 34 cm.
Franz Aulich, who trained at KPM (where he worked from 1888), is one of the most gifted artists of so-called soft painting on porcelain, who made a decisive contribution to the artistic development of flower painting with numerous designs based on intensive nature studies.
