GROßER MÜNZHUMPEN. Danzig. 1676-1700. Benedict Clausen. Silber mit Innen- und Teilvergoldung. Gewölbter Standring mit umlaufendem Flechtband und Blüten. Darauf breiter zylindrischer Korpus mit insgesamt 18 großen, eingelassenen Silbermünzen auf drei Registern, eine weitere im Boden. Es wurden vorwiegend Taler mit Wildem Mann des Herzogtums Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel mit Jahreszahlen zwischen 1602 und 1639 verwendet, einmal Taler Braunschweig-Lüneburg mit Jahr 1662. Dazwischen dichtes Reliefornament mit Blättern und Blüten-Nuppen sowie entlang des oberen Randes sechs, stark plastisch gearbeitete, Männerköpfe. Der Scharnierdeckel ebenfalls mit Flechtband und Blütendekor entlang des gewölbten Randes gearbeitet. Auf der flachen Oberseite Speciedaler König Friedrich III. von Dänemark und Norwegen eingelassen. Gegabelte Daumenruh und kräftiger J-Henkel. Ca. 1690g. Höhe 21cm. Dreimal BZ Danzig ca. 1670-1700 (Czihak, Westpreussen Nr.5), zweimal MZ Benedict Clausen (tätig 1676-1709, ebd. Nr.374). Zustand A/B. On it a broad cylindrical body inset with a total of 18 large silver coins on large registers, another one in the bottom. Most thalers feature the Wild Man of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel from the years between 1602 and 1639, one thaler Brunswick-Lüneburg from 1662. In the spaces around them dense ornament in relief with foliage and flower prunts, along the upper rim six sculptural male heads. The hinged lid also with interlace and flower decorations along the domed rim. On the flat top inset with Speciedaler King Frederick III of Denmark and Norway. Forked thumblift and strong J-handle.
