In his idealised portrait of Marcus Aurelius, Guevara, preacher and historiographer to Charles V, portrays a prince imbued with stoicism and full of humanity. Guevara's works exerted a great influence throughout humanist Europe in the 16th century.
A fine, well-preserved copy in contemporary vellum (some light marginal spotting, not serious).
