Sowohl Komposition als auch Ausführung und Beleuchtung weisen in den Umkreis des bedeutenden Malers Guido Reni (1575-1642). In line with the iconography the saint is shown suffering his martyrdom tied to a tree, his body pierced by arrows against a dark background. He gazes upwards to the left, to a point outside the image field where a divine apparition is to be imagined. Composition, execution and lighting all point to the circle of the famous painter Guido Reni (1575 - 1642).
