Lot no. 42
Guillaume APOLLINAIRE. 3-page autograph manuscript, large in-8 (skilfully restored). Draft of a rejected development of Le Passant de Prague, the tale that opens L'Hérésiarque et Cie, first published in La Revue blanche on 1 June 1902. This episode is related to the story of the Wandering Jew, and was eventually discarded by Apollinaire. "Since the night of Christmas 2107, when the hurricane had prevented him from crossing the Bonn Bridge, Isaac Laquedem had walked eastwards. As he passed through villages and towns, he would declaim passages from the Deteuronome [sic] or the prophets".... Attached is a small note in pencil about the character of Baron d'Ormesan (inspired by Géry Pieret): "Hist. du médecin qui pour arriver s'occupe de criminels n'ayant pas avoué"... (1 p. in-16).
