Gustave Vichy "Balancing on a scale Very nice composition head with original colouring and wig, blue glass eyes. The clown is leaning on his ladder and stands vertically on one hand with his head down. Beautiful movements in perfect working order for a duration of one and a half minutes. Throughout the exercise, he swings his ladder to maintain his balance. Listed in the Maison Vichy catalogue under no. 585: "Équilibriste n° 1 - H. 105 cm - Musique à deux airs". See "L'Age d'Or des Automates" by Christian Bailly, page 231. Details of movements: He salutes the audience twice at the beginning of his exercise, stands up in two steps, drops his right hand three times while saluting the audience. Very good original condition, except for wear and tear on the clothes, mat and stop button. Late 19th century. From 1880.
