*CEREMONIAL AXE In bronze with a green patina, the shaft ribbed with four points and surmounted by a lion. The blade has a downward flaring curve and thick edges. Good condition. 19 x 18 x 4 cm. Luristan, 2nd millennium BC Provenance Rassla Foundation, Zurich, acquired with Baba Ancient Art, London. A Luristan bronze Ceremonial Axe-Head. This bronze cylindrical shafi hole is surmounted by a lion. The ?aring downward-curving blade presents a central relief arrow emerging from stylised lion's jaw, the ribbed shafi has four butt-spikes. 2nd Millennium B.C. *For buyers from the European Union: This lot is sold under temporary import status.
