Second bilingual edition (in French and German) of Haller's famous poem on the Alps, illustrated with a frontispiece, a title vignette, 4 engravings and 4 lamp-heads by B. A. Dunker. Haller's poem is considered to be the first literary work devoted to the Alps. Some thirty years before Rousseau, he sang of the sublime nature of the Alps and emphasised its beneficial effect on morals. The text is sparsely foxed. Ex-libris Félix Perrin pasted on the flyleaf.
Beautiful edition of the text in French and German, uncommon.
