HAN DYNASTY POLYCHROME TERRACOTTA GOOSE - TL TESTED. Ca. 202 BC - AD 220. A terracotta goose with an elongated neck curving gracefully upward. The head features slightly recessed eyes, subtly defined with a shallow circular depression. The neck transitions smoothly into a rounded body, which narrows towards the tail. The surface is decorated with faded green and red pigments, forming irregular circular patterns across the back and sides. The wings are outlined with a shallow incised line, following the natural curvature of the body. The tail extends slightly upwards, terminating in a sharp, well-defined edge. The goose stands on separately modelled bronze legs, featuring distinct horizontal ridges and well-defined webbing between the digits. Size: 210mm x 195mm; Weight: 890g Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
