Originally from Westphalia, Jean-Henri Naderman settled in Paris in 1762. This harpist, composer, luthier, publisher and music dealer became ordinary luthier to Madame la Dauphine (1773) and luthier to the Queen (ordinary harp maker to the Queen in 1774).
When he died in February 1799, his widow Barbe-Rose Courtois (1755-1839) succeeded him as music publisher and dealer, trading under her late husband's name until April 1801, then thereafter under the name "Veuve Naderman".
Her sons Jean-François-Joseph (1781-1835) and Henri-Pascal (1783-1841) Naderman took over the manufacture of harps and the trade of factor, also working with their mother in music publishing.
