Extremely lifelike and lively depiction of the successful racehorse Lord Clifden (1860 - 1875) in his stable. Characteristic work by Hall, who was trained by Abraham Cooper and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1838. He quickly specialised in horse portraits and is considered one of the most important animal portraitists of his time alongside John Frederick Herring Sr. Oil on canvas, relined.
