Hashiguchi Goyō (Japan, 1881-1921)
Print, oban yoko-e, Yuki no Ibukiyama (雪の伊吹山), Snow on Mount Ibuki. Signed Goyō ga. Publisher Watanabe Shōzaburō. Dated the 1st month of Taisho 9 (1920) and stamped Taisho koshin sai. On the reverse, limited edition numbered 21/100 and stamped Edo-e kanshōkai kaiban (Published by the Society for the Appreciation of Edo Painting).
Size 25.6 x 40 cm
Mount Ibuki lies near Lake Biwa, on the border between Shiga and Gifu prefectures. The Edo-e kanshokai used to commission a print with the amount of the annual surplus. In 1920, they commissioned this snowy landscape from Hashiguchi Goyo.
