Translated by the late M. de Brémond, revised and updated with a preliminary discourse, remarks and notes by M. Desmarest. Paris, Veuve Cavelier, 1754. 2 volumes in-12 of 176-490-[1] and [2]-596 pages, red morocco, gilt fillets on covers, spine ribbed and decorated, gilt edges (contemporary binding). FIRST EDITION OF THE FRENCH TRANSLATION, with 7 plates, including 6 fold-outs engraved by Gobin, representing the machines and experiments developed by the author. The work contains a description of the electro-static machine to which the author gave his name. He also perfected vacuum machines and a pneumatic apparatus. Spine lightened but otherwise a very good copy in contemporary morocco.
