Lot no. 99
HELBRONNER (Paul). Detailed geometrical description of the French Alps. Appendix to volume two. Tour d'horizon du sommet du Mont-Blanc. Paris, Gauthier-Villars & Cie, 1921. In-plano, in sheets, in a mauve paper folder (recent folder). Complete tour d'horizon of the summit painted on the six-metre long summit of Mont-Blanc and one view (out of 5) of Mont-Blanc painted from the Tour.
These magnificent panoramas, painted in watercolour by Paul Helbronner between 1899 and 1903 and reproduced in photogravure, are impressive both for their precision and their artistic quality. The original watercolours are in the Musée Dauphinois in Grenoble.
Although incomplete with 4 of the 5 ancillary views, this copy does contain the superb panorama of the summit of Mont Blanc in fine condition (minor professional restoration in the margins).
