HELLENISTIC GOLD LUNAR PENDANT WITH LAPIS LAZULI AND RED GARNET.
Ca. 300 - 100 BC
A gold pendant formed as a crescent-shaped frame centred by a curved garnet cabochon in a plain box setting. One face is decorated with lapis lazuli inlays flanking the central stone and with drop-shaped garnet insets at each tip, with ribbed attachment loops spaced along the outer curve and a suspension ring fixed at the apex. The other face has a plain border around the garnet and a series of small circular settings with dark inlays arranged along the outer edge.
