HELLENISTIC GOLD RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING APHRODITE.
Ca. 300 - 100 BC.
A carnelian intaglio engraved with a standing figure of Aphrodite, depicted nude with her weight shifted to one side, one hand raised towards her hair and the other resting on a column. The figure's contours are finely incised. The intaglio is set within a broad, oval-shaped gold bezel. Wide shoulders extend from the bezel and taper towards the back, forming a rounded band.
