HELLENISTIC GOLD SPHERE PENDANT WITH GRANULATION. Ca. 300 BC. A gold pendant with a hollow spherical body decorated with a net of applied wires linked by regularly spaced granules. Each end is covered by a scalloped cap: the lower is edged with a beaded circlet, the upper rising to a short tubular neck with a ring of pellets and a broad rolled suspension loop bordered on both sides with fine beading. Size: 31mm x 17mm; Weight: 7g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the London art market; formerly with R. Unger, Parthenon gallery, 1990s.
