HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD EARRINGS WITH LARGE DISCOIDAL MEDALLIONS Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A pair of fine gold earrings with medallions. Each hoop bears a large discoid medallion and a cluster of gold pellets on the widened section. Such earrings were initially worn by women of high status who valued their jewellery, one of the few forms of private property that elite women were allowed to own in the Classical Mediterranean.
