HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD LUNAR PENDANT WITH ROSETTE. Ca. 300 - 1 BC A superb gold lunate pendant hammered from thin sheet and framed by three concentric borders. Within the crescent, an inner field is decorated with scrolling filigree tendrils, and each finial terminates in a cone of clustered granules. At the apex a ribbed suspension loop rises above a small rosette. Size: 28mm x 25mm; Weight: 3g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were published in a professional catalogue, a copy of which is available upon request.
