HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD LUNULA PENDANT WITH VOLUTES.
Ca. 250 - 175 BC A gold lunula pendant formed as a crescent-shaped plate with volute terminals and a ribbed cylindrical suspension loop at the apex. The front is framed by a beaded outer border enclosing a raised arching band and a central field of elongated ovoid cells arranged in two rows. Size: 30mm x 23mm; Weight: 3g. Provenance: Private London collection of an established Mayfair dealer and scholar with over 40 years of experience; previously part of 1970s-1990s UK collection. For similar see: E. M.
