HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD MEDALLION WITH MACEDONIAN "SUN" SYMBOL
Ca. 350 - 300 BC. A gold medallion with a flat, circular body and a narrow suspension loop at the top. The surface is decorated in repoussé with a central raised dome surrounded by a ring of small punched dots. Radiating outward are nine elongated rays alternating with narrower ridged lines, forming a sun-like motif. The outer field is filled with regularly spaced raised pellets arranged in groups between the rays.
