HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT WITH WINGED SATYR HOLDING A SCEPTRE Ca. 300 - 200 BC. A gold pendant cast in the form of a standing satyr with the left leg slightly advanced. The figure holds a long sceptre in the right hand, raised diagonally across the chest, and supports a square object in the left hand. A strand of beads extends from the neck to the waist. The body is nude, with caprine legs, the thighs and shins modelled with layered tufts resembling fur. Horns rise from the forehead, and a pair of broad wings extends from the upper back.
