Note: Henri Victor Wolvens was a Belgian painter, graphic artist and draughtsman.
Trained at the Academy of Sint-Joost-ten-Node (H. Ottevaere) and Sint-Gillis, active in Ixelles and Uccle (Labor studio 1921-22). First exhibition at the Galerie G. Giroux (Brussels, 1925).
Trips to Prague, works in France, Houffalize and on the Belgian coast.
Expressionist and animist, close to A. Van Dyck, W. Van Overstraeten, A. Dasnoy, he is distinguished by a dynamic technique, thick coloured layers and the search for light. A renowned painter of seascapes, harbours, beaches and dykes, he also painted portraits, figures, landscapes and still lifes. Member of the Compagnons de l'Art, Orientations, Jeune Peinture Belge, Kunst van Heden.
His work can be seen in museums in Brussels, Antwerp, Ixelles, Ostend, Bruges and Liège.
