Halfway between the bust in the round and the medallion, this type of portrait stands out in high relief on the concave surface of a large oval. Our elegant portrait can be compared to the medallion bust of the artist's daughter Blanche Triqueti, executed in 1852 (Private collection, fig. 1), or to the busts of Florence and Alice Campbell executed in 1856, a terracotta sketch of which is in the Musée Girodet in Montargis.
