Henryk Musialowicz (1914-2015), Untitled, 1958, ink on paper mounted on card, signed and dated, 50x35 cm Philippe Woog Collection Philippe Woog, the inventor of the electric toothbrush, was also a passionate art collector. His collection of over 600 paintings is remarkable for its diversity and its focus on modern and contemporary art. Woog was interested in pieces by artists such as Fontana, Klein, Beuys, Ryman, Mathieu, Picasso, Miró, and Dubuffet, as well as works by Warhol, César, Arman and Luis Benedit, with whom he was also friends. His collection reflects a fascination with innovation and the avant-garde, as in his own inventions. As well as paintings and sculptures, he also collected graphic works and objects of African art, demonstrating his eclectic taste and eye for unique and significant pieces, some of which are now in museum collections. Travelling the world, he also built up a collection of Polish art in the late 1950s, some of which we are pleased to present for sale.
