TINTIN
Dédicacée à son ami Andy Warhol :" With all my admiration. Brussels, May the 29th".

Tintin and the Picaros (first title : « Tintin and the Bigotudos »).
Exceptional sketch of the album's first plate. Dedicated to his friend Andy Warhol : "With all my admiration. Brussels, May the 29th" Hergé gave this Original sketch to the Pope of Pop art who had just made four portraits of the artist which are kept at Hergé Museum. Hergé was a very important contemporary art lover and didn't hesitate to get rid of one of his plate to offer it to his friend. Besides, he didn't offer this plate by chance : he wanted him to have one of his personal last creations, not an inked plate where others could have intervene…
Furthermore, this plate is very interesting for several reasons. If we consider that “Tintin and Alphart” is a partially unfinished piece, this plate is the first one of the last ended album which Hergé made when he was alive. This plate is the reflect of an evident reality : a sketch is only the project before the inking. It explains the initial title “Tintin and the Bigotudos” and the numerous drawings and annotations in the margins. Finally, the numerous artistic and human footbridges between contemporary art and the 9th art are highlighted thanks to this exceptional plate.
Comic Strip is no more considered as a minor art but as a fully art derived from a more popular culture which acquired recognition in a very difficult environment.
