Representative, life-size portrait of a wealthy or aristocratic lady as a three-quarter figure, dressed in a cream-coloured, embroidered dress and a white fur coat, holding a yellow rose in her right hand. Hermann Kauffmann was a sought-after society portraitist, for which he often travelled to Hamburg. He showed his paintings at the annual exhibitions at the Glaspalast in Munich, at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and in Hamburg, where he was a member of the Hamburg Artists' Association.
