History and criticism. Paris, , Hachette, , 1877 . In-12 (17,7 x 11,2 cm), bound in chocolate half-chagrin with corners, gilt fillets on covers, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt motifs (fleur-de-lys and crowned imperial cipher), marbled edges (Binding of the period). First edition. A precious copy of the Prince Imperial with his cipher. This copy bears a precious and deferential letter from the author "to the Prince Imperial, most respectfully offered by the most obedient and devoted of his servants", dated February 1878. The following year, the young Louis-Napoléon died in battle in South Africa. Imperial stamp ("N" crowned) affixed to title page. Binding a little rubbed, lower part of spine detached. Spotting and soiling. Some leaves a little loose.
