[HOMOSEXUALITY] SCAGLIA, Giacomo (XVI). Breve racconto dell'amicitia, mostruosa nella perfettione tra Nicolo Barbarigo, et Marco Trivisano. Venice: Sarzina, 1627.
Curious work dedicated to the Barbarigo-Trevisan affair, in which Scaglia defends the purity and heroism of the friendship between the two men from accusations of homosexuality made by fellow citizens. As with the contemporary heroic poem Il Barbarigo overo l'amico sollevato by Strozzi (1626), this rare prose work by Scaglia celebrates the selfless generosity of the Venetian patrician Nicolò Barbarigo, who not only granted a lifelong pension to his younger and impoverished friend, Marco Trevisan, but also named him and his family as heirs.
4to (280 × 200 mm). Woodcut printer's device to title-page, woodcut initials and headpieces, uncut. Old wrappers. (1)
