HORACE. Horatius cum quinque commentis. Venice, Venturino Ruffinelli, 1540, folio, half brown basane with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt roulettes, smooth edges (Binding circa 1800). A fine Venetian edition of Horace's works with commentaries and notes by Antonio Mancinelli, Acron d'Hélène, Giovanni Britannico, Josse Bade, Aldus Manuce and others. It is illustrated with ten woodcut figures in the text. The title, in red and black, is set in a wood-engraved frame. Binding worn and missing, two jaws widely cracked, repairs to the title frame, last leaf doubled with small tears affecting the text, scattered foxing and spotting. Edit16 CNCE, 22700.
