HORACE. [Opera]. Q. Horatius Flaccus, sex ab hinc annos ex fide, atque auctoritate complurium librorum manu scriptorum, opera Dionys. Lambini Monstroliensis emendatus. Paris, Jean Macé, 1567. 2 parts in one volume in folio, fawn basane, gilt roulette in frame, gilt fleur-de-lys on covers, coat of arms in centre, spine decorated with the same fleur-de-lys, roulette on edges, gilt edges (17th century binding). An excellent edition procured by Denis Lambin, first published in Lyon in 1561 and reprinted several times in Venice and Paris until 1588. The second part has its own title: Q. Horatii Flacci sermonum, seu satyrarum, seu eclogarum libri duo. Epistolarum libri totidem, of the same date. An expensive copy in a fine seeded binding with the arms of the Grassins College, founded in 1569 on Mount Sainte-Geneviève thanks to a bequest from Pierre Grassin in favour of poor schoolchildren in the diocese of Sens. Lacking at lower spine cap, one corner worn, light foxing and spotting, a few wormholes not serious. Adams, H-914.
