The 850 model was produced by the Horch factory since 1934
followed the year after by the models 851 and 853. The latter, a two door four-seat cabriolet is one of the most beautiful cars ever made in Germany. Its superb 8-cylinder in-line SOHC engine had a capacity of 4 946 cc and developed 120 bhp in 1937.
The 850 series was clothed in various styles ranging from the 7-seat limousine to the 2-seat roadster built by Gläser and other Berliner coachbuilders. Car production ceased at Horch at the outbreak of WW II during which the firm produced a 4WD troop-carrier propelled by the famous 8-cylinder engine. The Horch 853 #853 293 offered here was sold as new in Copenhagen by Bohnstedt and Petersen. Its original condition and the state of its factory body are spectacular.
It shows only 75 000 km (47 000 miles) on the clock. It is finished in black with red leatherwork, black piping and grey soft top. The
17" tyres are of the whitewall type.
