Note:
The mark Nhược Thâm Trân Tàng 若深珍藏 can be translated as 'Precious treasure of (the workshop) Nhược Thâm (Zhencang)' or 'Precious collection of celestial blue'. These pieces are inspired by Chinese imperial coins, in this case the decoration of the "Eight Horses of Mu Wang" (穆王八駿圖), symbolising power, speed and success, prosperity or a tribute to the riding mandarins. It would therefore have been a prestige piece, perhaps intended for a Vietnamese official (the horses also symbolised mandarin rank).
