Note:
These coins are inspired by Chinese imperial coins, in this case the "Eight Horses of Mu Wang" design (穆王八駿圖), symbolising power, speed and success, prosperity or a tribute to the riding mandarins. It would therefore have been a prestige coin, perhaps intended for a Vietnamese official (the horses also symbolised mandarin rank). The "Phát" (發) character is a wish for success.
