HUGE WESTERN ASIATIC STAG-SHAPED TOP OF SCEPTRE Ca. 1100 - 900 BC. A cast bronze finial depicting a reclining stag, finely modelled with naturalistic details. The animal rests with its legs neatly tucked beneath its body, its head turned slightly to one side. The stag’s features include prominently arched antlers, small pointed ears, a delicately carved snout with nostrils, and detailed hooves. A short, downward-facing tail completes the figure. The stag sits atop a flaring tubular base encircled by shallow horizontal grooves. Surrounding the opening is a band of perforations, each hole suspending a small spherical bell. Size: 155mm x 85mm; Weight: 415g. Provenance: Private UK collection; Formerly acquired on the European art market from pre-2000 collections.
