Michaud, 1843; in-8, xxix-[3]-188-[4] pp. half red long-grained morocco with corners, gilt fillet, smooth spine decorated throughout, gilt head, cover and spine (Mercier). First edition. Victor Hugo's last great historical drama, first performed at the Comédie-Française on 7 March 1843.
Unidentified bookplate with the monogram L. F., with the motto Habent sua fata libelli.
A fine copy perfectly established by Mercier.
