HUGO (Victor). Les Travailleurs de la mer. Paris, Eugène Hugues, s.d. [1882]. Large in-8, fawn half-basane, smooth spine decorated, cover and spine (E. Jarrigeon). Edition published in 66 issues in the Victor Hugo illustré collection, decorated in the first printing with around 150 woodcuts after drawings by Victor Hugo, but also Daniel Vierge and Chifflart. One of 60 copies on chine (no. 11), enriched with two colour proofs not included in the ordinary edition and a justification leaf at the head of the volume (according to Vicaire, 5 copies of this book would have been printed on japon at 250 fr., 50 on chine at 120 fr. and 50 on tinted vellum at 60 fr.). An engraved portrait of Hugo is included. Some foxing in the text and on the edges. Vicaire, IV, 399 - Carteret, III, 306.
