RENAULT OILS - rare oil cruet circa 1920. Very good condition, beautiful patina. Approximately 10 cm diameter for the body and 27 cm wingspan in total. Louis Renault and his brothers founded their company in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1898. 1913: creation of the Renault Oils company. 1944: Louis Renault arrested on 23 September for "trading with the enemy"; imprisoned in Fresnes, he died a victim of ill-treatment on 24 October. Nationalisation in 1945 for collaborating with the German occupiers, followed by privatisation in the 1990s.
