EIGHT ILLUSTRATIONS FROM A RAGAMALA Sirohi, Rajasthan, North India, late 17th century Pigments on wasli paper, each depicting a couple, a heroine or a hero in a different situation, identified in nagari in a cartouche with a yellow background on the upper part, within red borders, framed together. Size: 34.2 x 146 cm (frame); 22.5 x 16 cm (each painting) The paintings are identified, from left to right, as: Shri Raga, Dipak Raga, Pancham Raga, Malkos Raga, Madhu Madavi, Dhanashri Ragini, Dev Gandhara Raga. A Set of Eight Illustrations from a Ragamala Series, Sirohi, Rajasthan, North India, Late 17th century See the illustrations of a very similar ragamala attributed to Sirohi and dated to the late 17th century in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (IS.114-1960).
