HUNTING RIFLE WITH FLINT LOCK - The Embden Collection Bohemia, ca. 1720/30. The barrel is signed Lorentz Neireiter in Prague (Lorenz Neureiter, 1686–ca. 1730), master craftsman in Prague from 1717, and stamped. Octagonal barrel (cal. 8 mm), barrel length 76.5 cm. Brass front sight and rear sight. Gilt lock plate with depiction of a deer hunt and, on the reverse, two bound men in open scrolls with dragon creatures. Iron cock and powder pan with carved and engraved vine decoration. Curved gilt trigger guard ending in a hunter figure, engraved with tendrils and applied with a silver head of Caesar. Butt cap and ramrod pipes gilt, decorated with leaf masks, faces, leaves, and grotesque figures. Walnut stock carved with scrollwork and a dolphin. Ramrod with gilt tip. Total length 115 cm.
