Edition illustrated with 220 colour woodcuts by Auguste Lepère, who also printed the book, with an unpublished preface by Joris-Karl Huysmans. "Beautiful illustration, highly sought-after edition. Limited edition of 130 copies, this one for Armand Sibien, enriched with 41 fumés on japon pelure, which offer a second and sometimes a third state of the compositions, an original signed watercolour by Lépère (binding project), a page of sketches, an autograph note from the author, 2 p. in-12, written from Ligugé where he invites his addressee "mon cher confrère" to come and visit him; and an autograph letter signed by Lepère, dated [18]68, addressed to the statuary Mathieu Meunier, 1 p. in-8.
