Copy from the Huysmans library, bearing an autograph note signed by Lucien Descaves in pencil on the first endpaper: Exemplaire de Huÿsmans, offert par moi à René Bizet 7bre 1923. Lucien Descaves (1861-1949), friend and executor of the will of Joris-Karl Huysmans, founded the Société J.-K. Huysmans Society in 1927 and became its first president. René Bizet (1887-1947), to whom Lucien Descaves presented this relic, was a journalist, novelist and poet who was a member of the École fantaisiste founded by Francis Carco and Tristan Derème. Works from the library of Joris-Karl Huysmans are rare.
