Rare representation of a Hampatong couple.
Sculptures used in rice fields, in the forest, along a river, to ensure a good harvest, good fishing or for sacrifices offered to the goddess Jata and the Santiang to promote fertility. The wood, which has been ravaged by lichen, is coloured dark grey, white and dark brown.
