He'll be back. Napoleon. Autograph manuscript signed, 19 p., in black ink on wove paper, dated 16 March 1877. In-12 (19.1 x 12.5 cm), green chagrin, double framing of gilt fillets and gilt bees on the corners of the boards, spine ribbed with gilt bees in the boxes, gilt edges (Period binding). A splendid Bonapartist calligraphy manuscript, "dedicated and offered to His Highness Monseigneur the Prince Imperial" by the author on the occasion of his 21st birthday. The meticulously handwritten text is set in remarkably fine Gothic-style frames, also drawn in ink. The first part, entitled Il reviendra, is a call for the return of the young Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte to the throne of France, in the form of an alexandrine poem comprising 22 quatrains and a distich. The second part, soberly entitled Napoléon, praises, in prose this time, the imperial name, which the author calls for as the Third Republic prepares to enter a period of political crisis. The manuscript is decorated with an ink frontispiece and a fine watercolour title vignette depicting an eagle holding an olive branch in its beak. Binding slightly rubbed, one corner dulled, beginning of a split and small split at one jaw, a small marginal tear at the flyleaf. Endpapers partially unstuck, a few small angular creases.
