MADURA ISLAND, Great Sunda Islands, Indonesia. Beautiful "Kriss" dagger symbolising the physical and social double of its owner. Comparable to the example (71.1956.28.103) in the collections of the Musée du Quai Branly -Jacques Chirac, it has a sheath in kayu pelet wood, a donoriko chiselled wooden handle with a fine patina and a blade carved in iron and nickel steel (damascened).
