The Hungarian painter and graphic artist Ilona Hranitzky studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. Her teachers were Lajos Deák-Ébner, Oszkár Glatz, and János Vaszary. From 1913 her work was regularly exhibited in the exhibitions of the National Salon and the Art Gallery. She was a member of the women's group Nyolcak (The Eight), which existed from 1909 to 1919. In 1931, a retrospective of Hranitzky's works took place at the National Salon, Budapest.
